Wanted: Beta Reader

halcyonc:

I’m currently rewriting and translating one of my old fan fictions into English. It’s a multi-chaptered Zoro-centric story set in a medieval AU. It could be classified as some kind of epic (I think…). Unfortunately, characterisation went very awry back then, that’s why this time I’m looking for a beta reader to help me with:

  1. Grammar and punctuation.
  2. Tone and characterisation.
As the story was originally written in 2004, there are many characters involved in the plot who don’t look so dangerous now compared to what is running around in the New World or who turned out to be not as bad as one believed them to be. Therefore another major issue is the cast which needs to be revised. You should have read at least until after the timeskip.

The story contains no smut, but violence and torture.

As I’m not a native speaker, my vocabulary is both influenced by American English as well as British English, however, I tend to use the British spelling. As for grammar and punctuation, I’m not actually strictly sticking to either. Or maybe I am, but I’m just not aware.

I’d prefer to go about the whole beta reading in chat sessions (for the cast) and mainly mails, but let’s just see what works best for us. Since I’ve just translated one chapter and will be progressing slowly, I’m fine if you take your time to review. Just let me know that you’re trying.

Please contact me via my askbox if you’re interested. I’d be happy about anyone who’d volunteer to beta read!
